A Day in the Life of Walter: A Personal Journal
I woke up a bit late today, around 11ish. Last night’s shift really took it out of me, and I felt it when I finally peeled myself out of bed. After freshening up, I decided to make a hearty brunch, sausage and egg fried rice. Simple but satisfying. The best part of the morning, though, was my usual call to my parents. We talked for about an hour, just catching up on life, laughing about old memories. There’s something about that call that grounds me, keeps me connected to home.
Afterward, I took a shower, trimmed my nails-one of those small self-care routines that feels oddly refreshing, and got ready to head to the Nepal Embassy. I needed to pick up my new passport since I damaged my old one. I always enjoy my visits to the embassy. I’ve made friends with a few of the delegates there, and we always end up having good chats. Today was no different; we talked about politics, the current state of Nepal, and how much things have changed. There’s a certain comfort in discussing familiar topics, like being transported home even though I’m miles away.
Once I was done at the embassy, I treated myself to a little solo date. It was a nice, sunny day, so I took the 30-minute walk to Hyde Park, passing Kensington Palace along the way. I spent about three hours there, just wandering around, breathing in the fresh air. I found a nice spot by the pond, took a nap under the sun, and watched people go about their day. It’s amazing how easy it is to get lost in thought in a place like that. You feel small, in a good way, like the world is vast and full of possibilities.
After my park stroll, I had a craving for something fancy, so I made my way to a nice restaurant in Knightsbridge. I went for a massive portion of lamb shank and it was perfect, exactly what I needed after all that walking. Feeling recharged, I went over to Notting Hill to hunt for a trendy tote bag I’d been eyeing for a while. Lucky me, I found one!
With my new bag in hand, I decided to indulge in my latest hobby, plane spotting. I made my way west to Hounslow, where I always get the best views of planes. The sky was kind to me today; I spotted a few A380s, my favorite aircraft. There’s something calming about watching planes take off and land, especially when you’ve got a sunset to look forward to.
As the sun began to set, I took in the colors fading across the sky, one of those simple pleasures that I never tire of. Afterward, I stopped by H&M for some light shopping before heading to a juice shop for my usual drink. By that point, my step counter was showing 27,000 steps, no wonder my feet were tired!
Now, I’m back home, lying in bed, reflecting on the day. It wasn’t filled with grand adventures, but it was one of those days where everything just felt right. A day well spent, in every sense. – Walter
