CHAPTER II

This year has been nothing short of extraordinary. As I take a moment to reflect on all that’s happened, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude. Gratitude for the people who have stood by me, the experiences that have shaped me, and the growth I’ve experienced along the way.

First and foremost, I owe everything to my parents. They’ve been my unwavering foundation, supporting me from afar with a love and belief in me that has never wavered. No matter the distance or the challenges, they’ve been there, whether through a comforting phone call, words of encouragement, or simply the knowledge that they’ve got my back, always. Their sacrifices and constant support have been my greatest strength. And then there are my friends and the people I’ve been lucky enough to meet this year. Every single person has left a mark on me in one way or another. Whether it’s been through laughter, advice, or just sharing a quiet moment, you’ve all made this year richer and more meaningful.

This year has been packed with adventure. I made it to Morocco, a place that felt like stepping into another world. The week I spent there was unforgettable. Wandering through bustling souks, watching the sunset over the Sahara, and soaking in the vibrancy of the culture, it was all breath-taking. It was one of those experiences that reminded me how much there is to learn and discover beyond what we already know.
Back in the UK, I took on the challenge of exploring every corner of this beautiful country. From the lively streets of London to the peaceful hills of Wales, from the rugged coastline of Northern Ireland to the awe-inspiring landscapes of Scotland, I’ve seen it all this year. Standing on the summit of Snowdon, with the world stretching out endlessly before me, was a humbling experience. It made me pause and reflect on how small yet significant we are in this vast world.

Scotland called me back three times, and each visit felt like coming home. There’s something about the highlands, the quiet lochs, the dramatic peaks, the air that feels so fresh and alive, that stirs something deep in your soul. It’s a place where I’ve found not just beauty but also peace and clarity.

And then there was February, a moment I’ll cherish forever. I got to fly a plane, a childhood dream my father once had but never got the chance to fulfil. As I gripped the controls and felt the plane lift into the air, I wasn’t just flying for myself. I was flying for him, for the dreams he passed on to me. It’s hard to put into words what that moment meant, but it felt like we were connected in a way that transcends distance or even time.

But this year hasn’t just been about the places I’ve been; it’s also been about the person I’m becoming. I’ve worked hard to open myself up to others, to be more approachable and friendly. It hasn’t always been easy. I’m naturally a bit reserved, but I’ve realized how much richer life becomes when you let people in. Whether it’s through sharing a laugh, lending an ear, or just being present, I’ve learned the value of deeper connections.
I’ve also pushed myself to be more disciplined. I’ve been striving to bring structure and purpose into my days, whether it’s through my studies, work, or personal goals. It’s a work in progress, but I feel proud of how far I’ve come. Discipline isn’t just about achieving things. It’s about building habits and values that align with the person you want to be.
Even with everything going on, I’ve managed to make time for the things I love. Golfing, writing, playing tennis, and plane spotting have all been a part of my life this year, and I’ve cherished every moment. There’s something so grounding about stepping onto a golf course, hitting the tennis court, or spotting a plane in the sky. These little joys have been my way of staying connected to myself amidst all the chaos.

As I sit here reflecting, I realize how much this year has taught me. It’s been about finding balance between adventure and stillness, discipline and spontaneity, striving and just being. It’s taught me to appreciate the little things, to be present, and to value the people around me even more.

I’m not the same person I was at the start of this year, and for that, I’m grateful. I’ve grown in confidence, in resilience, and in my understanding of what truly matters. More than anything, I’ve learned that life is a gift, not just the big moments but the small ones too. To my parents, my friends, and everyone who’s been a part of my journey this year, thank you. Thank you for believing in me, for supporting me, and for sharing in my moments of joy and growth. You’ve all made this year what it was. A year of transformation, adventure, and connection.

As I look ahead, I feel hopeful and ready for whatever comes next. If this year has taught me anything, it’s that life is full of surprises, challenges, and beauty and all we need to do is embrace it with an open heart.
