Gratitude

Gratitude is a feeling that grows deeper with every passing year. As I reflect on my life, I can’t help but marvel at the incredible journey I’ve been on, filled with experiences, opportunities, and blessings that have shaped me into who I am today. I feel incredibly lucky, not just for the comforts and opportunities I have but for the lessons and love that have surrounded me throughout my life. I have always known the importance of having a stable foundation, and my home has been a testament to that. Our house is more than just four walls and a roof, it is a place where love lives and memories are made. It is where I’ve learned the true meaning of family, where laughter echoes through the halls, and where every meal shared is a reminder of how fortunate I am. I’ve never had to worry about having a safe place to sleep or food to eat, and this privilege is something I hold close to my heart. Not everyone is so fortunate, and this reality deepens my gratitude even further. Every day, I wake up knowing that I have a warm bed, a loving family, and the freedom to dream, and that is something I never take for granted.

This stability has given me the chance to experience so much in life. Things that as a child, I could only imagine. One of the most emotional moments of my life ties back to my father and his dream. My father had always dreamt of becoming a pilot. It was his passion, his ultimate goal, but life’s circumstances meant that his dream remained unfulfilled. He often shared stories of his love for the skies, and his eyes would light up every time he spoke about flying. I grew up carrying his dream in my heart, wanting to fulfill it for him. While I didn’t become a pilot professionally, I did have the privilege of flying a plane once. A moment that was both surreal and deeply emotional. Sitting in the cockpit, with the controls in my hands, I felt a profound connection to my father’s dream. It was as if, in that moment, I was living his unfulfilled aspiration, and it brought me immense joy and pride. I will forever be grateful for that experience, and for the reminder that even when life doesn’t go as planned, there are still ways to honour our dreams.Beyond the joys of home and family, I am also incredibly fortunate to have the freedom to explore the world. Travel has always been a source of inspiration for me, a way to broaden my perspective, immerse myself in new cultures, and find beauty in the unfamiliar. Last summer, I had the chance to visit Morocco, a country that left me in awe with its vibrant colours, rich history, and warm hospitality. Wandering through the bustling souks of Marrakech, feeling the golden sands of the Sahara beneath my feet, and tasting the aromatic flavours of Moroccan cuisine were experiences that will stay with me forever. This winter, my adventures continued closer to home, as I explored the stunning landscapes of Edinburgh, the rugged beauty of Wales, and the charm of Belfast. Each destination brought its own unique magic. Edinburgh, with its cobblestone streets and majestic castle, felt like stepping into a fairy tale. Wales offered a serene escape into nature, where I found myself marvelling at the rolling hills and quaint villages. Belfast, on the other hand, was a city of resilience and culture, where history and modernity coexisted in a way that inspired me deeply. Traveling to these places has been more than just a series of vacations, it has been a journey of discovery about the world, about others, and about myself. These experiences remind me of how lucky I am to have the means and freedom to travel, to see the beauty of this world, and to carry those memories with me. Not everyone gets the chance to explore beyond their immediate surroundings, and I am grateful every day for the opportunities I’ve had to step outside my comfort zone and experience life in all its diversity.

As I think about the future, my heart fills with hope and determination. One of my deepest aspirations is to contribute meaningfully to society, and I often find myself thinking about the transformative potential of Universal Basic Income (UBI). The idea of ensuring that every person has a baseline income to meet their basic needs is something I deeply believe in. It’s a vision of a world where no one has to live in poverty, where everyone has the freedom to pursue their dreams without the constant burden of financial insecurity.I hope to use my voice and platform to advocate for UBI, to write and speak about its potential to create a fairer, more compassionate world. Writing has always been a passion of mine, and I plan to channel that passion into creating impactful content that highlights the real stories of people who could benefit from UBI. Through articles, blogs, and conversations, I want to inspire others to see UBI not as an abstract concept but as a tangible solution to some of society’s biggest challenges. But my dreams don’t stop there. I’ve always felt a deep connection to the land, to nature, and to the idea of living a life of purpose and simplicity. One day, I hope to become a farmer but not in the traditional sense of large-scale agriculture, but as someone who cultivates a small piece of land with love and care. There is something profoundly fulfilling about the idea of growing food, tending to the earth, and providing nourishment for others. Farming, to me, represents a return to basics, a life where hard work and nature come together to create something beautiful. I imagine myself waking up with the sunrise, working with my hands, and finding joy in the simple act of planting seeds and watching them grow. This dream of simplicity doesn’t mean I lack ambition. On the contrary, it reflects a deeper understanding of what truly matters. I don’t aspire to wealth or fame. My goal is to live a life that is meaningful, sustainable, and aligned with my values. I want to wake up every day with a sense of purpose, whether it’s writing an article that sparks a conversation about UBI or harvesting the fruits of my labour on the farm.

As I look back on my journey so far, I am overwhelmed by a sense of gratitude. Life has not been without its challenges, but every experience either good or bad has taught me something valuable. I am grateful for my family, who have been my greatest source of love and support; for the opportunities to travel and see the world; for the chance to honour my father’s dream, even in a small way; and for the privilege of dreaming about a future that is both simple and impactful.Gratitude, to me, is not just about acknowledging what I have but about recognizing the potential to give back, to contribute, and to make a difference. As I move forward, I carry this gratitude with me, using it as a source of strength and motivation. I know that the road ahead will have its share of challenges, but I also know that I am equipped to face them with resilience, hope, and an unwavering belief in the power of dreams.

Life has been incredibly kind to me, and for that, I am deeply, humbly thankful.
